2008 Festival Facts

  • Adelaide Bank Festival of Arts started in 1960. The Adelaide bank Festival of Arts in 2008 will be the 25th.
  • The 2008 Festival includes 80 events and more than 280 performances.
  • The program which has a renewed emphasis on the visual arts and outdoor activities, includes 27 events that are free to the public.
  • Two thirds of Festival events come from overseas or are international/Australian collaborations.
  • More than 855 artists and performers will participate in the 2008 Festival, including 277 from overseas and 232 from interstate.
  • Staged across 32 indoor and outdoor venues

  • Respondents to market research (McGregor Tan Research) for the event indicated overwhelming support:
    • - 97% of Festival patrons surveyed indicated that they were pre-disposed to attending the Festival in the future
    • - 82% of visitors indicated that they were likely to return to the State as a result of their attendance at this year’s Festival
    • - 98% of Festival patrons agreed that the Adelaide Bank Festival of Arts was important in the profiling and promotion of the city or state.
  • The 2006 Festival attracted 546,000 for ticketed and free events
  • The 2006 Festival generated in excess of 1,630 media segments (approximately 26% of which were in interstate, national and international media and internet outlets)
  • The box office for the 2006 Festival-produced events increased by approximately 20% on 2004 and 123% on 2002.
